Among my most important considerations was Janet's comfort level, sophistication, and sensitivity when dealing with high net worth individuals, and her ability to put them at ease and talk to them as a professional colleague. Furthermore, she would have to absorb enough about the Nature Conservancy, to be able to converse with these long-term supporters as if she had worked for the organization for years. She would also have to understand the nuances of the debt instrument we were designing and other financial support options to hold her own with some of the most sophisticated investors and philanthropists in America. I could think of no-one better suited to addressing these multiple demands than Janet Larson. The results of the project far exceeded my expectations. Over the course of the project, Janet conducted nearly 50 one-on-one interviews of 30-90 minutes in length with difficult to schedule individuals, produced and presented a strategic report of her findings and had everything to do with our ability to gain support from Conservancy leadership and potential investors alike. The project passed through the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors and will now be offered to current and potential organizational supporters with a goal of raising at least $25 million in 2 years. I am impressed by how quickly and easily Janet absorbed the information required to represent the organization and this product and the facility she had with the interview subjects. The interviews were deeply engaging, conversational, and often went well beyond the 30 minutes allocated. Her report was strategic, on point, and visually compelling.
