Janet L.S. Powers, Esq., has been a member of the CA State Bar since 1985. She is a Senior Shareholder in Fiore Racobs & Powers Irvine office. She received her preparatory education at UCLA graduating with a B.A. degree in English. She earned her J.D. degree at Southwestern University School of Law.Ms. Powers is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and Community Associations Institute. She is a member of the prestigious College of Community Association Lawyers of CAI and has served on the Editorial Board of the CCAL Journal of Community Association Law. She was President of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Regional Chapter of CAI. She also served on all Chapter Committees and is past chair of the Programs, Finance, Education, and Media committees. She has received several Chapter awards, including the Chapter's highest, the May Russell Award, for her service to the Chapter, the President's award, the Ellen Ellish Hall of Fame Award, and the Chapter Appreciation Award.Ms. Powers is a long-standing member of the faculty for the California Association of Community Managers and teaches many of its certification courses. She is also an editor of the CACM course materials on Community Association Meetings and Records and Parliamentary Procedure. She served on the Steering Committee of the Legal Advisory Committee of CACM for over 12 years. She was co-chair of the CACM Law Seminars and has been a speaker at many of CACM's Law Seminars.Ms. Powers was a faculty member for the CAI National Conference and CAI Law Seminars. She has been a faculty member of the California Continuing Education of the Bar programs on Homeowner Association Law. She frequently acts as an expert witness on the subject of community association law. She also writes and lectures on community association law at both the local and national levels. She is the Executive Editor of the Firm's newsletter, The Legal Perspective©, and directs marketing and public relations for the Firm.
