Known as a diversity, multiculturalism, and educational equity subject matter expert with deep-rooted connections within diverse communities across Central Ohio. Receive invitations— from around the world—to provide insight into integration, community connectivity, student engagement, curriculum development, and cultural competency.➤ Invited to address the Danish Ministry of Education in Washington, D.C. at a Department of Homeland Security Conference, discussing youth engagement and community connection practices—critical given the number of youth being recruited to ISIS—delivering an impactful presentation on the prevention of violent radicalization.➤ Traveled to Belgium with a delegation and, in turn, reciprocated and hosted a delegation in the U.S., spending significant time and discussion examining inclusive strategies that promote civic engagement and reduce extremism.➤ Orchestrated an in-depth survey into students’ views on their culture being supported by teachers, analyzing and segmenting 200+ responses to create 5 dimensions of multiculturalism. Shared results with teaching teams to fuel curriculum revisions, drive continuous improvement, protect students’ cultures, and promote dialogue.➤ Developed, scaled, and sustained programs that reflected a multicultural perspective district-wide—serving 16,700 students in 22 schools, the 9th largest district in Ohio—providing teachers, administrators, and certified employees with understanding of cultural issues and their connection to student engagement and learning. ➤ Provided students with opportunities to develop and expand their cultural understanding to become student leaders, overseeing support groups—for students who identified themselves as ethnically and religiously marginalized and from majority communities—by promoting DE&I with an emphasis on affirming the school climate.

Develop original lessons in addition to instructing from a text and course module, teaching within both the undergraduate and graduate programs, focusing in the areas of Cross-Cultural Communications and Culture and Diversity in TESOL. Promote cultural literacy and competence for pre-service teachers working toward TESOL endorsement.➤ Collaborated with 49 statewide peer educators as a member of the Ohio Teacher Leadership Liaison Committee—during the 2019-2021 school years—delivering a presentation at the Ohio Teacher Leadership Summit.➤ Created curriculum deployed university-wide, playing an instrumental role in developing the programs, benchmarks, tools, and learning objectives to provide students with a framework for knowledge acquisition. Evaluated written and verbal work to measure students’ understanding of cultural ideas.➤ Developed a cross-cultural curriculum for a six-week exchange program between Ohio Dominican and Osaka International University for Women. Delivered instruction and coordinated field trips to facilitate cultural assimilation for program participants, orienting students to historical, psychological, and Western practices.

Received a scholarship to participate in a 6-month study of the Holocaust and 10-day trip to Poland with a Holocaust survivor, learning about Jewish history, the events leading up to the Holocaust, and the resistance movement against this genocide, leveraging experience to develop classroom lessons in Holocaust education.

Partnered with families embarking on major international relocations—to and from the United States—carefully assessing needs, providing one-on-one and group training, and providing culturally appropriate education.

Engaged in private tutoring roles with local Japanese families working in Central Ohio through a connection with Honda, helping all members of the family assimilate to local and Western cultures and norms.

Created individualized English curriculum for visiting Colombian affiliates of Nationwide Insurance Company, developing lesson plans that addressed grammatical, conversational, and business needs.

Created original curriculum and lessons to provide Japanese Honda of America employees with language training. Provided situational training to prepare students for experiences common in U.S. culture.
