Developing and facilitating a year-round college readiness program for 7th-12th graders in the Vickery Meadow community.

Identifying, developing and implementing strategies to address systemic, economic and neighborhood barriers to successful a successful education, specifically in South Dallas.

Coordinated case management services to assist 200 formerly or potentially homeless residents. Trained social work and seminary interns to facilitate case management and programming for residents. Worked with the Dallas Housing Authority to implement programming for housing vouchers. Worked with leasing company and community development corporation to ensure tax credit requirements were implemented correctly. Worked with community and external volunteers to implement programming that would assist residents in achieving personal goals

Facilitated the operation of the Jim and Betsy Sowell College Scholarship Fund. Partnered with universities, schools, and other non-profits to enhance programming. Partnered with neighborhood elementary school to augment needed educational services. Mentored current and future college students and assist with filling out paperwork for college. Created and developed after-school programming in public housing developments that included homework assistance and high-level enrichment classes for K-12. Created the University of Values, an 8-week summer program for elementary-aged children, focused on social justice issues. Facilitated community organizing with the residents in the Turner Courts housing development to access needed city services. Developed and facilitated the Urban Experience, a one-week urban education program for suburban high school students and/or adult groups. Facilitated College Prep Program for 8th – 12th grade students. Facilitated a weekly “Civil Rights Night” educational program for teenagers.

Coordinated over 50 volunteers to manage a food pantry that served the Dallas area and saw over 300 families per month. Invited people receiving food to be volunteers, thus creating a volunteer base where three-fourths of the volunteers were community volunteers who had initially received services. Created and implemented the first model in Dallas where food pantries allowed individuals to "shop" for their food instead of being given a pre-determined bag of groceries.

Taught a graduate level course on Diversity and Equity in Education.
