I was responsible for maintaining oversight over BBC Monitoring's editorial operation and providing editorial leadership. I also provided editorial training and managed the contractor network spread across East and Central Africa.

I spent 5 months delivering editorial training at BBC Monitoring’s offices in Kiev, Yerevan and Caversham. On my return to Nairobi, I delivered training at the Cairo bureau and at the Nairobi office at various times.

I covered current affairs stories and art stories for Focus on Africa radio and TV. The stories I covered the following stories:• The aftermath of the collapsed building at Huruma in Nairobi; I received commendation from Regional Africa Editor, Solomon Mugera, for my work. • The execution of South Sudan nationals in Sudan; I interviewed South Sudan's acting envoy to Kenya• I presented two 2-minute TV packages, one on the relevance of Shakespeare in modern Africa, and another on an activist band of musicians, Sarabi.• I interviewed a diplomat-turned-musician Gilad.

Radio producer at French-language news and current affairs programme, BBC Afrique, aimed at Francophone West Africa. I also spent two weeks on the production team of Focus on Africa radio.

Key responsibilities:• Newsgathering from internet, TV, radio sources of the French-speaking East African countries, including DRCongo, Burundi, Rwanda, Mauritius. Translating news stories from French to English, filing news stories collected from the above sources; • Producing various written news packages and writing monitor's reports (summarized version of news reports, highlighting the main news points and providing background information, placing the news report in context). • Sub-editing and filing news reports supplied by BBC Monitoring's partner.
