 Ensure that claims are managed in compliance with NSW legislation, policies of the WorkCover Authority including its Claims Management Model. Encourage the use of best practice strategies by key operational managers to ensure active identification of suitable duties, case reviews and proactive communication. Conduct claims reviews within Commands identifying areas or strength and weaknesses and an improvement plan and timetable. Manage relationships with all parties involved in a claim to ensure that services provided meet benchmarks and expectations. Liaise with the insurer in relation to changes in estimates and ensure that affected business units are informed in a timely manner. Maintain technical skills and expertise in workers compensation management. Maintain factual file notes and management information and ensure that they are maintained within legislative requirements.Provide support, strategic advice and analysis to key stakeholders on the management of workers compensation claims. Resolve issues with the provider, local management, injury management advisors and other stakeholders as required. Provide advice to assist local management determine level of settlement pertaining to the Workers Compensation Commission and other legal matters. Conduct training with key stakeholders. Interpret legislation and policy and present recommendation to Manager. Prepare correspondence in response to requests from solicitors and NSWP panel of solicitorsAttend Mediations and Arbitrations at the Workers Compensation Commission. Participate in teleconference to settle disputes.

Manage and process the determination of liability including proper estimation, processing of payments and ongoing management of claims.Implement effective case management in relation to injury management program in cases of significant injury.

This position works as part of our self insurance licensing conditions and is responsible for providing the strategic management of Sydney and NSW Trains workers with compensation claims following workplace injury.I manage a designated portfolio of worker's compensation cases within the organisation to achieve a safe, early and durable return to work following workplace injury, which reduces claims cost.I arrange independent medical and other investigations to ensure informed liability decisions can be made within the scope of the worker's compensation legislative framework.Implement appropriate injury management and return to work strategies in consultation/conferencing with key stakeholders including the injured worker, treating doctors, managers, accredited rehabiliation providers and other specialists. Maintain objective file notes and case management information that is compliant with our self insurer licensing conditions while upholding privacy principles.Resolve disputes that may arise from the injury management or return to work process.Represent RailCorp in teleconferences, injury management disputes, case conferences and at arbitration as required.
