I took on the role as ESS Coordinator for the district. I also was the Lead Teacher for Red Valley Cove High School for the school year 2016-2017. I managed a case load of over 30 students as we were short of Special Ed teachers - holding IEP meetings for the Red Mesa Elementary School and Red Valley Cove High School. I also was part of the district's Child Find working with our ESS Itinerant in writing IEPs for preschool students. I also participated in the National Writing Project - Bisti Writing ProjectThis past year my experiences grew. I had the opportunity to visit the country of Cuba as I was invited by the MEDICC organization (a nonprofit organization that promotes US-Cuba health collaboration). Upon my return from Cuba, I participated in a learning workshop to increase an awareness of the Dine' Culture in classes. In 2017, I then was asked to participate in the Arizona Department of Education Qualified Evaluator receiving my certificate in meeting the Arizona State Statute Requirements.

Red Mesa Unified School District And Red Valley / Cove High School

I was a case manager of the Juniors and Seniors ESS students of Red Mesa High School as well as handling the Special Education caseload at Red Valley Cove High School. I oversee the transitions of our students working with the Navajo Nation's OSERS office and other entities that can assist our students transitioning post-high school.I am also co-teaching an English class of 10th-12th graders.I share the sponsor responsibilities of the Class of 2016. My case load consists of students ranging with identified disabilities (EBD, SLD, Mild-ID, Moderate-ID OHI, ,VI/OHI, and Autistic). I utilize the IEPpro program in writing IEPs, posting current information on METs, quarterly goal reports, Manifestation Determination/BIPs. I do have a Life Skills class that I work with students in developing skills in managing independent living. I service students in their core content and CTE classes (welding and marketing). I oversee two paraprofessionals in a one-on-one/push-in schedule as well as creating lessons for our students using the SIOP Lesson Model. Prior to being the high school ESS teacher, I was a fifth grade teacher. I taught core subjects as well as the SPARKs program. I was on the Leadership Team at both Round Rock School and Red Mesa Elementary, the 21st Century Summer Tutoring Plan, and was on the advisory team for the district's pre-school program.

Round Rock, Az & Teec Nos Pos, Az

For three years I was a fifth grade teacher teaching an inclusion class in all subjects at both Round Rock School (2 years) and Red Mesa Elementary (1 year). We covered subjects ranging from ELA, math, science, social studies in that I included art and technology in my subjects. Our daily schedule began with getting in the mood to work by doing a couple of cardio dance routines and then listening to Louie Gonnie music to prepare our day and our mindset for learning. Small groups along with whole groups was the typical routine. We made learning fun!
