As Director of Volunteer Services, I managed the AmeriCorps Seniors skills-based volunteer program for adults 55 years and older with a budget of over $300,000 funded by federal, state, and private grants. I developed grant budgets and learned 4 grant systems to manage applications, report performance, and process expenditures. By overseeing the grants and the execution of the 5 volunteer programs serving children and seniors in need operated by the department, I helped advance Family & Children’s Service’s mission to support people during challenging times.I spearheaded volunteer recruitment marketing resulting in a 40% increase in the volunteer base for the read-aloud literacy enrichment program, which relaunched in the fall of 2022 in 10 elementary schools impacting 800 pre-K thru 1st-grade students.As the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Coordinator for Monmouth County, NJ, I managed and provided subject matter expertise to a team of 15 counselors and presented over 30 Medicare educational seminars serving over 1,400 seniors & disabled Medicare beneficiaries and pre-enrollees in the past year.I gained experience in program development and event planning as STEM Director for A&E Learning and a PTA volunteer. I utilized these skills to create 2 new volunteer-based programs: friendly calling to combat social isolation and loneliness in seniors, and literacy tutoring for elementary students. In addition, I was instrumental in developing a social visiting program for seniors. I also oversaw the organization of a full-day educational symposium on aging attended by 70 service providers to seniors, a chronic pain management resource fair attended by 40 seniors, and a mental health speaker series reaching over 175 seniors. Building new connections and leveraging long-time partners of the agency were foundational to the success of these events.
