Before joining the event industry, Janet Elkins taught school in the Inner City of her hometown Chicago. Having to adapt to diverse situations and finding creative solutions while teaching junior high prepared her well for her later career.While Janet heads a diverse staff of talented individuals that have been brought together to create award-winning memorable events, she continues to be involved in philanthropic endeavors. Janet and her friend sponsored the education of a Lao monk whom they had met during a trip to Asia, supporting his schooling in English, business and accounting. He now successfully has a job in the hotel business in Luang Prabang.In business she has been a key figure in the development of the corporate special events industry over the past three decades. She has served on the advisory board for The Special Event and currently is on the board for SEARCH. Her distinctions include SITE’s prestigious Crystal Awards, numerous Gala Awards and nominations from Special Events Magazine, MPI Supplier of the Year as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Special Event and Hall of Fame from Event Solutions.Janet has addressed audiences across the nation and overseas, sharing her 30-plus years of industry knowledge. She has also served as an instructor for various seminars and classes held at MPI locations, ISES and universities in the greater Los Angeles area. She continues to mentor and support young talents in the event industry. In her sparse free time Janet loves to travel the world.
