As a national authority on disability, diversity and compliance policy for business, my firm has created the Disability Recruiter© Certification, a growing LMS suite of online courses and webinars, the leading Recruit Disability Job Board and The Sierra Group Academy.I advise businesses, government, VR professionals and individuals with disabilities on topics ranging from inclusion to the ADA, Section 508, OFCCP 7% Rule, Self-ID and Unconscious Bias.As a social entrepreneur, I am personally familiar with accommodating many types of disabilities. These case-by-case experiences further fuel my personal passion for workplace equality. In 1992 when I founded The Sierra Group, Inc. the Americans with Disabilities Act was new, and the Rehabilitation Act of 1978 had just been reauthorized to include vocational rehabilitation services for those with the most severe disabilities first. Our first assistive technology assignment was to equip a 26-year-old man with quadriplegia to become a computer programmer. From this one challenging — yet successful — AT engagement in the early ’90s we have gone on to implement more than 10,000 workplace accommodations in businesses across America. We created and run The Sierra Group Academy of Philadelphia, and the RecruitDisability.com Job Board, which allows us to personally serve the nation’s largest group of unemployed Americans on a day-to-day basis. The Sierra Group has become the nation’s leading “one stop shop” for all matters regarding disability and employment.
