I am a writer and photographer, both for national publications like Maxim and Popular Science and for "Pain: Chronic / Words: Iconic" at JanetJay.com, my own site about disability, chronic pain and mental health. I am also proud to write and edit the national INvisible Project magazine and assist the US Pain Foundation with its other communication needs. As a subject matter expert on chronic pain and invisible disabilities, I'm working to break down the stigma and silence around these sorts of health conditions. Another way I'm doing so is through my work with Access Jay, the startup I founded with the help of Venture Labs and 2gether Intl. Access Jay works with businesses and other entities to make spaces more friendly to the 1 in 7 Americans with chronic pain, and hopes to provide a space for all-important connections to form within the disabled community. Skills include: Writing, editing, proofreading, copywriting, prompt engineering, LLM content production, research, nonfiction, journalism, creative non-fiction, SEO, public relations, marketing, copyediting, graphics and desktop publishing, photography (traditional, including darkroom work, and digital), digital Imaging, scanning, basic HTML, Wordpress,

BloggerPain: Chronic / Words: Iconic (Janetjay.Com) Sep 2020 - PresentJanetjay.com is the blog I've always wanted to write about my life dealing with chronic pain and disability. It's irreverent and personal and I hope more than anything that it helps some people navigate and avoid the medical nonsense that has run my life since I was 15. If nothing else, I've got all the first-hand experience a person could ever need; I am so thrilled to get a chance to help others understand what's happening, how to get get through it, and how to come out the other side as a person you're proud of.

Writer / EditorFoundry (Foundry.Net) Aug 2015 - Nov 2015Foundry is a storytelling community for hardware entrepreneurs and a discovery platform for the tools and services they need to build products. Foundry exists to help hardware entrepreneurs design, build and sell products by connecting them to the tools and services they need to mass-produce goods and grow companies. My specific responsibilities included interviewing inventors, CEOs and CTOs about their innovative hardware products and then working closely with them to create SEO-optimized copy for the Foundry.net site. I was also responsible for obtaining high quality visual elements, both still and video, to run with the story. I was then responsible for inputting both the copy and visual elements into Foundry's CMS, including bio/headshots for the interviewee and a variety of other information.Essentially, I was responsible for each story from the introductory email through the final approval by the client. From hoverboards to walking origami, Foundry allowed me the chance to write about and work closely with the inventors of some really interesting technology.
