At Here (formerly OpenFin), I am responsible for strategy and delivery of technical information for customers and partners, primarily for software developer audiences. My entire tenure at Mozilla, in various roles, was on the team responsible for the MDN Web Docs site, which contains reference, guide, and tutorial content about web standard technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web APIs, HTTP, SVG, etc.), for an audience of web developers. Together with a community of volunteers, we grew MDN Web Docs to more than 15 million page views and thousands of volunteer contributions per month, reaching more than 80% of web developers. Based on reader feedback, the site has a satisfaction rate of 80% and a task-completion rate of 92%. In 2018, it was voted #1 for developer documentation and code examples, in a survey of developers by Slash Data.In previous roles, I've documented: custom scientific applications and open source libraries built with Python; business process automation software; a J2ME implementation and porting API; and web-based and native sales and e-commerce software. I can translate knowledge from the developers who wrote the code to the developers who will use the code -- they are not the same. I can also foster participation in open communities, with an understanding of evidence and metrics-based strategies based on the the community's life cycle stage.Outside of work, I have a 3rd degree black belt in Aikido, a Japanese martial art that emphasizes resolving the conflict over defeating the opponent. Off the mat in daily life, I apply Aikido principles for centering myself and connecting with and leading others. Core Competencies: Software documentation; open source communities; web technologies; agile methodology; continuous improvement; programming literacy; conference speaking; collaboration; aptitude for learning about technology; remote work.
