As a professional RN & one who believes at the core that patient education is vital, a call to nursing is essential. Being a nurse is a calling, not just a job or paycheck = and one in which I can serve my Creator by serving others. I've been fascinated since childhood by individuals from other cultures, languages and enjoy working with individuals from many cultures. I have personally been enriched by making dear friends from many cultures. Living cross-culturally as a missionary-nurse for 13 years in the Brazilian Amazon is still one of the most life-changing personal experiences I've ever had. This new culture of working with the military and those who served us all, is going to stretch me again, left foot, right foot; as I learn to think outside of the box and learn to use the Nursing Process in this new environment! And learn a new language! The "face" of Ohio is rapidly changing and we need to provide thorough nursing care to whomever our patients are, regardless of where they come from!
