By empowering and mobilizing communities using the highly effective and widely acclaimed Bantay Banay model and strengthening collaboration with local government units (LGUs) and government agencies, the project becomes a viable vehicle through which the principles of human rights can be integrated in disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and preventing unsafe migration and trafficking in times of disasters. In this sense, the Danajon Communities WATCH is a pioneer project that seeks to establish a best practice example of how disaster risk reduction and prevention of human trafficking can be integrated and implemented through a community-based approach.This project is implemented by three Cebu-based organizations, namely A2D Project-Research Group for Alternatives to Development Inc., Lihok Pilipina Foundation Inc., and the Philippine Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas. Danajon Communities WATCH is funded by Caritas Switzerland.
