SHCC serves as a Performance Based Contract Administrator (PBCA) for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Project Based Section 8 properties in Texas and in Arkansas. SHCC is a subsidiary of the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA). As the HAP Subsidy Analyst I process Special Claims for Section 8 properties that SHCC administers and assist with the disbursement of HAP payments.

The mission of Crossroads Scholarship Fund is to assist, inspire and empower high school students to pursue their college/university aspirations.Recognizing that the work of mentors, teachers, parents and other stakeholders is sometimes not enough at the students’ first crossroads; we work to provide students additional mentoring and some financial assistance to attend college. The committee serves the students at Eastside High School that are participants of the Mentoring Program sponsored by GAHCC. The committee plans and coordinates the monthly luncheons and field trips for mentees and mentors.

The AISD Calendar Task Force is responsible for developing and proposing a school calendar to the Superintendent and Board Members.

Served on the HAL Planning Committee. I took part in selecting the 2009-2010 HAL Class. I assisted with the planning of the curriculum of the HAL classes. I was responsible for planning the Education Class.

Purpose of Program: To inform and encourage students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math through entertaining and interactive activities. Scope of Work: The GAHCC will work with 15 sixth grade students once a month during advisory period. During these monthly sessions, the students, along with their assigned mentor, will participate in activities exploring STEM industries. The student’s family will be welcome to participate and snacks will be provided. The monthly sessions will last through May 2011. Mentoring: Each student will be assigned a mentor. The purpose of the mentor is not to advise the student on life issues, but to guide them through the exploration of STEM activities. It will be required that the mentor meet with the student once a month during the scheduled STEM activity session.

The HACA Toastmasters is a club that allows employees to enhance their public speaking and leadership skills.

Mentor for High School Students and provide support to enable them to stay motivated to finish High School and consider pursing a college education.

I mentor two HAL students as they attend a 7 month leadership program where they learn about several topics (i.e. education, environment, civic leadership, healtcare, financial stability) and network with non-profit and leaders within the greater central Texas area. The students are exposed to community leaders and topics that will motivate them to get engage as they develope their leadership skills.

Assist with planning of HFC conferences. Obtained door prizes, donations, exhibitors, breakout session presenters and keynote speakers. Developed contact list of keynote speakers, exhibitors and breakout session presenters. Administered surveys, sign-in sheets, agenda, and break-out sessions.

Worked on promoting the Un Sabado Gigante in Engineering to middle school students, specifically at Covington Middle School. The event was held at the University of Texas at Austin and the students were exposed to the areas of science, math, and engineering.
