In my position at Silfex, I'm currently overseeing a network segmentation project to separate IT and OT resources, thus improving our overall security posture. We're using Checkpoint firewalls (we were already using them at the edge) to sequester critical shop floor devices and keep them safe from the most vulnerable parts of the network, meaning the devices that interact with both users and the rest of the world. It's fun and I'm finding that I enjoy project management, which has been a bit of a surprise to me! I'm also assisting with the search for a new monitoring product and the deployment of our asset management solution as a part of our Sysaid deployment. Lots of other stuff, too. Every day is different and I'm still loving it here at Silfex!

Managing systems, supporting a network for a manufacturer with about a dozen plants around the world. We have about 3000 endpoints, about 500 network infrastructure devices and about 300 servers of various flavors. Infrastructure is "my thing", so I love my work. Every day is different and every project new. Among my favorite, recently completed tasks are Cisco WebEx rollout to all our users, new cloud infrastructure and a wide variety of resources in Azure, a new ITSM solution implementation (thanks Cherwell!), plenty of new management servers and tools .. all around good fun!

I served as network administrator and infrastructure engineer for a global marketing and publishing company. I managed a multi-forest Microsoft AD environment along with a group of server farms of mixed environments (roughly 1200 servers) and a multi-site network with a Cisco backbone. AT the time, Vivial had roughly 25 sites in five countries, about 2000 users and an estimated 13,000 endpoint devices.

I managed a network and small server farm for a large specialty medical practice. I was essentially an IT administrator and Cisco engineer (hands-on technician) with other duties added. The network had 5 locations, about 200 users and about 1000 devices, a few of which were medical imaging devices using GE PACS IW.

In this position, I served as both IT Director for a non-profit CAA and also as Computer Science Instructor at the in-house alternative high school.

As Inside Account Manager for NetGain Information Systems, I managed 120 client relationships inclusive of 30 key customers, covering both Managed Services and traditional clients who sought consultation on their IT requirements. In a highly competitive industry with few loyalties, my client retention rate far exceeded the average in this industry.

As VP of operations, I oversaw back-office and operations for a commercial, industrial HVAC design/build contracting firm in Dayton, Ohio, reporting directly to the President. Duties were widely varied and included everything from payroll to network administrator.

As GM of this family of small companies, I was involved in Investment Real Estate, Real Estate Development, and Rental Property Management. My duties were widely varied.

This position involved comprehensive problem solving for irate mortgage customers. My duties included long-term title and property tax investigations and detailed legal research, in addition to routine customer service problem solving. Skills that I utilized in this position included usage of MS Office Suite, several mortgage company-specific databases including Alltel, and VBS programming, in addition to intensive telephone and electronic customer contact. I left this position voluntarily to further my career.

This position involved the management of a staff of four to five in the sales of group fundraising campaigns (“Secret Santa Stores” and foods, primarily) to K-12 schools and non-profit organizations. Sales functions included coordination of telephone and direct mail campaigns, trade show display and individual presentations to boards of directors, CEOs and other non-profit and education executives.

This was a mortgage servicing company customer service call center position. I answered incoming calls (80%) and made outgoing calls (20%) in the course of helping customers understand their mortgage and escrow account.
