Retired Teacher Librarian
• Instruct daily classes for children in K-8 classes.• Prepare, differentiate, and implement daily lesson plans in accordance to the Information Literacy Standards.• Prepare and implement individual daily lesson plans and units in collaboration with math, communications, social studies, and science teachers.• Assess individual student progress.• Promote literacy through unit projects and school-wide activities.• Select appropriate new material and maintain school library collection.Librarian/User Services• Assist patrons in locating materials, acquiring information, using the internet and computer searches.• Compile book lists, periodicals, articles and AV materials by subject or interest as needed.• Arrange for visiting adults to present programs to increase literary appreciation.• Browse reviews, announcements and public information to keep the library/school up-to-date.• Read and write evaluative reviews for materials considered for purchase by the library system.• Order and process new materials.Librarian/Administrative• Execute school-wide disciplinary plan.• Establish and manage the library budget• Order and maintain books, periodicals, library equipment, audio-visual, and computers – software and hardware.• Supervise library workers and oversee all activities.• Prepare and implement grants for both the library and the school district, obtaining over $40,000 in materials and additional funding.• Implement fund raising activities for the public library and the city school district.• Adept with Apple Mac computer systems.• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
