I have worked for 25 plus years in psychiatric nursing and continue to share a passion for improving mental health outcomes and reducing mental health stigma. Early in my nursing career, a job at a teaching hospital on a child psychiatric unit set the foundation for a love of the mental health field and engagement around continued academic growth. Clinical exposure within diverse patient populations and in varied hospital, healthcare and mental health settings has supported my goal to constantly be learning and to continue to grow skills for meeting the needs of individuals in mental health. A few of those areas include: Inpatient Child Psychiatry, Inpatient Adult Psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency Department, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cocaine Abuse and Community Mental Health. In the past decade, I have had the opportunity to teach as a nursing faculty in varied roles with specialized focus in psychiatric nursing curriculum and mental health nursing simulation. Co-authored works include journal publications and chapters in recently published psychiatric nursing textbook. Recognized as an outstanding adjunct faculty in 2021.Currently, an Assistant Professor of the Practice and Director of Undergraduate Nursing Program at Egan School of Nursing.
