Hello I'm Janice, If you're on my page I'm happy to meet you. I am a life-long learner who has spent my working years in various roles across the Education sector. Starting as a secondary teacher and Head of Sixth form, I then re-trained as a primary teacher and focused on the primary/secondary divide to ensure the process was seamless for teachers, learners and parents. I spent three years as a Literacy Advisor working for local authorities across Scotland, before becoming a Quality Improvement Officer for schools across the Renfrewshire authority. I then went on to become a National Attainment Officer and Advisor to the Scottish Government before retiring.After retiring, (very early I may add) I found that I just could't give up teaching so undertook a course to teach English online to individuals working for large corporations across the world, with clients in Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, India, South Africa and China.I have now, in 2022, undertaken a Professional Coaching Diploma, which is certified by the International Coaching Federation. Coaching is a skill I have used throughout my career, but the term wasn't commonly used. I have since realised that every interaction I've had with learners, teachers, head teachers, academics and parents have been coaching conversations. They all involved effective questioning with an end-intention to improve outcomes and to unlock the full potential for these stakeholders. Today, when much emphasis is placed on mental and physical well-being of employees, leaders, teachers and learners, I believe that having coaching skills at their finger tips will lead to a much happier, healthier and productive organisations across both the public and private sectors.
