We connect students with caring adult volunteers 50 and older whose training, life experience, and commitment is the essential combination that ensures these children are able to read proficiently by the time they reach 4th grade and have the opportunity to succeed in school and in life. Thus, combating the cycle of poverty.Currently, Empowering Readers OC, has over 200 highly trained volunteer tutor/mentors providing literacy assistance to more than 400 struggling readers throughout Orange County. Since the launch of our our program in 2017, we have provided over 40,000 one-to-one reading tutor session to more than 1,100 students.
