Szaferman Lakind, P.C. has forty attorneys. Within the Litigation and Business Departments, I have a successful land use, infrastructure and environmental practice; I also engage in a substantial amount of litigation on behalf of private clients, both businesses and individuals, as necessary. Land use clients range from Symrise, Inc., an international flavor and fragrance corporation based on Branchburg, NJ, and Jack Cust, a major developer and redeveloper in central New Jersey, to individuals and small- to mid-size businesses and partnerships navigating the property development, environmental and infrastructure regulations in NY, NJ, and PA, including environmental remediation projects. I am also licensed to practice law in Florida and I have a small but growing practice there. Was an associate with this firm from 1985-1991, after which I was a prosecutor in Mercer County from 1991-1993. Tried 15 cases to jury verdict.

I am one of the founding Board members of this non-profit organization that preserves and protects the Delaware River from industrial (point source) and non-point (runoff) sources of pollution. The Delaware River lies between two of the nation's oldest industrial cities (New York and Philadelphia), and adjacent to many others (Camden, Tre ton, etc) yet through diligence it has become one of the nation's cleanest waterways (now designated "wild and scenic" in both the upper and lower reaches).

Elected May 2009 to the Board of Trustees for a four year term; the Board of Trustees is the equivalent of City Council under this Township's charter. During my term of office, I authored and advanced enactment of several ordinances that improved safety and the quality of life for residents and taxpayers, improved neighborhoods, and improved the economic environment of the downtown business district. I chaired the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee of the Board of Trustees, and acted as liaison to several other committees including Transportation Advisory Committee, Senior Citizen Advisory Committee, Parking Authority and Historic Preservation Commission. Before being elected to the Trustee Board, I was an active member of the Planning Board for nine years and a member and chair of the Environmental Commission.

As Executive Director, I supervised staff, raised funds, analyzed policies and worked with state and federal legislators and others to advance major capital infrastructure projects to enhance and update the regional transportation network in southeastern PA, NJ, NY and CT (air, surface transportation (highway and transit) and marine). I lobbied for passage of bills to integrate land use, environmental and transportation infrastructure investments in Albany, Trenton, Hartford, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. (before Congress). I was appointed to a national commission to streamline to NEPA review process for infrastructure projects, coordinated through CEQ I coordinated our approach with state agencies, contractors and interested private entities.

As a young person, I was very interested in wind and solar projects as well as the potential for investment in conservation and co-generation. I worked for a non-profit corporation, and as part of my work there, I founded a solar advocacy and education non-profit organization that published a monthly newsletter, "New Jersey Sun." I testified on bills and appeared before the NJ Board of Public Utilities policies to encourage investment in solar energy and conservation measures including cogeneration. I also worked with the then-fledgling solar industry and professions and trade that would benefit from additional investment in conservation and solar facilities. I co-authored a book titled, "A Consumer's Guide To Solar Energy," that described solar installation projects. I conducted solar and passive house and commercial building tours, and raised grant funds for education and outreach. After graduating from law school, and during my private practice, I have represented investors in solar projects and have successfully garnered land use approvals for them.
