I'm stepping back from my role directing Changing the Narrative, but NEVER stepping back from the fight to end ageism. I'll be focused more on: —Strategy—Aligning efforts for collective impact—Training others who want to start similar initiatives to reframe aging, advance the business case for older workers and intergenerational teams, and to end ageism in their communities and regions.—Consulting with organizations who want to become more age-inclusive in their policies, practices, communications and marketing.REACH OUT!

Changing the Narrative is a campaign to change the way that people think, talk and act and aging and ageism. Our end game? To end ageism. We use evidence-based approaches and innovative campaigns to address ageism in work, healthcare, popular culture and wherever it appears. We strive to create more age-inclusive workplaces, communities and society.

Trained by Frameworks Institute to deliver workshops on how to use research-based strategic communications to shift negative and inaccurate perceptions about aging. The goal? To advance support for policies and practices that respond to the increased longevity in our country and leverage the contributions of older people while also helping meet our needs as we age.As one of the original 12 facilitators trained by FrameWorks, I've facilitated hundreds of workshops and presentations across the United States on #ReframingAging, starting in 2018, and helped countless organizations reframe their collateral and messages. In 2022, people in all 50 states in the United States, and 43 countries outside, participated in one or more of our programs.An evaluation of our workshops found that 97% would recommend the workshops to others, 94% increased their knowledge of ageism, and 95% both increased their understanding of effective messaging, and felt better equipped to identify and address ageism.

The Fellowship is part of The OpEd Project’s national Public Voices initiative to change who writes history. And it’s part of Encore.org’s work to diversify and amplify voices at the four-way intersection of aging, longevity, intergenerational connection and social justice.

Redesigned Nonprofit Studies curriculum, creating and updating 8 courses to reflect the latest thinking in nonprofits as agents of social change.Because no good deed goes unpunished, the dean then asked me to teach the intro course to students in the Department of Human Services, focusing on connecting students with local nonprofits in community and social change through guest speakers, panels and group projects addressing real issues in community.
