In addition to the legislative work, I was also representing the Parliament before the Constitutional Court.Main highlights:▶ Ensuring a clear and lawful legal environment for businesses by drafting 60+ law projects and overseeing the correct implementation of various EU legal acts (e.g., AML/CFT Directives, including those aimed at avoiding Latvia's inclusion on the FATF's grey list, Police Directive, GDPR). ▶ Successfully representing Latvia in court proceedings initiated by an insolvent bank and a foreign company, achieving the dismissal of their claims of returning millions of euros that were involved in a money laundering scheme.▶ Successfully representing Latvia in court proceedings against subordinated creditors, securing the dismissal of their claims of returning millions of euros deposited in a bank that was bailed-in during the Great Financial Crisis in 2008.Main responsibilities:▶ Ensuring the compatibility of law projects with international and national legal standards by drafting legal opinions, communicating with different stakeholders about necessary improvements, leading inter-institutional and expert groups to reach consensus in different kinds of legal questions related to law projects, actively contributing to conversations in parliamentary committee meetings.▶ Representing Latvia before the Constitutional Court and other courts in written and oral proceedings by drafting all kinds of litigation documents (e.g., legal briefs, statements of defence), devising litigation strategy and liaising with state authorities.
