Before returning to public school teaching after being away for 23 years, I spent eight years serving as curriculum specialist, writer, and editor at Indiana University for the Creativity Labs @ Indiana University, exploring the Maker educational philosophy. Prior to that, served for three years, also at Indiana University, as curriculum specialist and narrative writer for Quest Atlantis, an online massively multiplayer educational video game. For example, I have created online teaching guides for such instructional videos as the revolutionary PBS series The Shape of Life and the landmark U.S. history series America in the 20th Century.Before working in the private sector, I spent twenty years working on content and curriculum in public schools, including the fields of language arts, mathematics, middle and high school learning disabilities and at-risk education, and general elementary content.
