Jan-Jaap Reinders is work and organizational psychologist specialized in interprofessional collaboration, education, and integrated care. Dr. Reinders is also a lecturer, educational co-developer, IPE coordinator and researcher at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, University of Groningen, and University Medical Center Groningen (Center of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene). Furthermore, he is principal investigator of the Research Group on Interprofessional Identity and Collaboration at Kauno Kolgeija (Kaunas, Lithuania). At the University of Groningen he earned a PhD on task shifting, interprofessional collaboration and education in Oral Health Care at the Faculty of Medical Sciences and has a Master of Science degree in Work and Organizational Psychology. He holds certificates in university examination of the University of Groningen and university teaching of the Hanze University. He is a certified theater teacher trained at the Northern University Leeuwarden and has worked as a didactics and theater teacher at Dartington College of Arts in association with the University of Plymouth. Dr. Reinders developed the initial version of the Meta-Model of Interprofessional Development. This meta-model is adopted by institutions in several countries (e.g. Hanze University, University of Groningen, University Medical Center Groningen, Kauno Kolegija, Louisiana State University, and the European Network of Physiotherapy in Higher Education which respresents 156 institutions in 31 countries). In March 2019 the meta-model was presented in The Hague at the request of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. Also, he developed a theory on interprofessional identity formation (Extended Professional Identity Theory). In addition, Dr. Reinders developed a new reliable and valid instrument to measure interprofessional identity (Extended Professional Identity Scale). Currently, several countries are developing their own cross-cultural validated version of this instrument (e.g. Lithuania, Germany, Brasil). In 2018 he was awarded a grant by the Lithuanian Ministry of Education for his work on interprofessional practice and education and he was appointed visiting professor at Kauno Kolegija in Kaunas, Lithuania.
