IT professional with 30+ years of experience with development, system integration and system administration - as well as 10 years in various leadership roles. Over the years I have also gotten a broad experience in the enterprise marked - within areas like logistics, production and economics - just by working closely with both the end-users in these segments and with their systems.I am an unapologetic computer geek. The early experiences I got from my father in the late seventies and early eighties - behind a keyboard and nose-down in computer cases - has both got me where I am now professionally, and left me with an everlasting, highly pragmatic bottom-up view on computing. This has for instance manifested itself in many years of working with the innards of integration and communication protocols - whether it be file formats like XML, UN/EDIFACT or EDI X12, or more online B2B solutions like AS2.Combined, the pragmatism and technical curiosity, has made me both an early adaptor (Linux in 1992, Windows NT in early 1994, Java in 1997) but also left me with the clear conviction that almost every new technology or platform that comes along is based on older technologies and practices and thus - to paraphrase sir Isaac Newton - stands on the shoulders of these giants.Over the last few years I have also gotten into retro computing, not so much for the gaming part (except when I get to show the younger generation that we DID have fun back then too), but both for the nostalgia and to fix and expand on older hardware. For the latter my earlier training as an electronics engineer finally has come to real use.
