Executive leader supporting strategic planning and innovation for the College Advancement Division, which includes marketing, communications, public relations, recruitment, resource development, customer relationship management, and philanthropy.

Provide overall leadership for internal and external communications for the college and fundraising for the GTCC Foundation. Working to build broader visibility, understanding, and support for both the college’s and foundation’s mission, vision, and goals.

Oversees all activities of the development department, including fundraising, marketing, communications, public relations, grants and reporting, and the volunteer/internship program. Develops and implements ABC of NC’s comprehensive development and communication plan with the Board of Directors, staff, and key community stakeholders. Raises money through individual, corporate, and foundation giving; researches and develops prospective investors and advocates; coordinates, writes, and procures programmatic, capital, operations, capacity, and research grants; develops donor strategies, reviews and contribute supporting materials to secure long-term community and institutional support to meet the organization’s strategic priorities.

Oversee the strategic direction and implementation of all marketing, philanthropic, volunteer and outreach efforts. Lead the agency’s philanthropic and development efforts through donor cultivation and recognition, giving opportunities, fundraising events and corporate, foundation and organizational grants. Develop approaches to increase the agency’s awareness and impact among constituencies. Create marketing and communication materials to support community engagement, fundraising work plans and increased market share. Partner with CEO on special communication and networking efforts to build community awareness and support.

Managed all functions of family engagement and philanthropy including the planning, programming and solicitation of two national philanthropic societies, the President’s Leadership Cabinet (PLC) and the Parents Council (PC). Managed a 250 prospect portfolio in a disciplined, organized manner, collaborating with the VP for Advancement, University President, Leadership and team members regarding strategy, development and action plan for solicitation, closure and stewardship.

Responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting alumni, parents and friends who have the capacity to support High Point University with leadership annual gifts between $10,000 - $100,000. Manage a portfolio of 150 prospects across the country with the objective to solicit leadership level annual gift and cultivate towards a major gift. Oversee an exclusive leadership level annual giving society.

Manage top 100 prospect portfolio in a disciplined, organized manner, consulting with the University President and team members regarding strategy, development and action plan for solicitation, closure and stewardship. Collaborate with the President, Deans, faculty and staff to develop proposals which align with the University’s top priorities and donor interests. Work with colleagues in Communication and Culture to identify alumni and friends to highlight on the University’s Website and in University publications. Oversee regional and national philanthropic advisory Boards.

Oversee annual fund, third party fundraising events, and assist with sponsorship solicitations.

Responsible for managing portfolio of 100+ prospective donors, conducted 204 face-to-face visits, raised $1,870,750 in major gifts ($25,000+), with 84% of proposals funded in FY 11.
