Prof. Dr. Jan Krämer is a full professor at the University of Passau, where he holds the Chair of Internet and Telecomunications Business and is also the director/spokesperson of the DFG Research and Training Group (Graduiertenkolleg) 2720 on Digital Platform Ecosystems. Furthermore, he is Academic Co-Director at the Centre of Regulation in Europe (CERRE) - a Brussel's based think tank. Previously, he obtained a diploma degree in Business and Economics Engineering with a focus on telematics and operations research, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Professor Krämer follows an interdisciplinary research approach by combining theoretical and empirical methods from economics with insights from computer science, psychology and law. His current research interest include predominantly the regulation of telecommunications and Internet markets, as well as digital ecosystems and data-driven business models. He is editor at several leading academic journals (including Management Science), author of several interdisciplinary books on the regulation of telecommunications markets and has published numerous articles in the premier scholarly journals in Information Systems, Economics and Marketing research. Professor Krämer has served as academic consultant for leading firms in the telecommunications and Internet industry, and as an expert (witness) for governmental institutions, such as the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, the UK‘s Information Commissioner’s Office, and the European Commission.
