As senior engineering manager of Reliability & Quality, I founded and directly manage an SRE team and indirectly manage a QE team. In my role, I combine people and product management for the reliability discipline, as well as acting as a part-time individual contributorThe SRE team enables product engineering teams to develop and run resilient and reliable services. We are responsible for observability, incident response practices and tooling, business continuity planning and drills. My contributions include- creating, managing and advocating our team’s strategy, roadmap, backlog and delivery- managing contracts, vendor contacts, cost and support of SaaS tools (Datadog, PagerDuty, StatusPage)- product managing our home grown and open source tools that aid faster incident response and building of resilient services (incident bot, K6, Vector)- creating standards and accompanying materials and tools to guide engineers in incident management, incident reports, business continuity plans and drills, production readiness and run books- raising awareness and spreading knowledge on reliability related topics through creation and teaching of workshops, newsletters, running incident report review sessions, offering embedding engagements of SREs in product teams and running monthly reliability reviews sessions with senior engineering leadership where we discuss service performance and incident trendsIn addition to my reliability and quality work, I’ve contributed to a revamp of our engineering career framework, driven implementation of our tech radar and ran our engineering manager community. I also represent our employees in the Netherlands as a works council member

Together with friends working in the SRE industry, I manage the Site Reliability Engineering NL Meetup group (~1600 members). Involved in planning, curating and running community events

Responsible for design and implementation of restructuring of the engineering org. I contributed to organisational design, selection process design, negotiations with works council and trade unions, internal communications and update of engineering career framework and engineering values

Responsible for people and performance management of 25 ICs as well as expertise development and advocacy for quality engineering and testing across the engineering org

As IT Chaper Lead I was responsible for people management and craftmanship of 8 - 13 ICs. These duties were combined with IC tasks at a 50/50 split. Throughout my tenure I've been responsible for 3 chapters:- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) from 2016 - 2021: Responsible for founding and building SRE teams and practices as well as taking our org's first steps to using public cloud. One of the SRE teams developed and owned a monitoring and alerting stack which was used by 150+ teams. The other team worked on a container platform with service mesh to be used in public cloud. For both teams I was responsible for vision, strategy, education, user adoption, stakeholder management, developer advocacy and developer experience. During this time, I shared our team's story in talks at various conferences (SRECon, O'Reilly Velocity, LISA, QCon and others)- Product Owners of Developer Productivity from 2018 - 2019: People manager of product owners/managers across our Developer Productivity domain combined with the role of product owner of an internal developer knowledge portal- Tech Project and Program Managers from 2016 - 2017: People manager and craft development of tech project and program managers

I supported the CIO of Domestic Bank The Netherlands by- contributing to engineering and people strategy development and implementation, leading a transition to a BusDevOps operating model- acting as a linking pin within our Engineering org and other domains (e.g. other Engineering orgs ING-wide, HR, Finance, Communications) for a variety of strategic and operational topics- overseeing employer branding and repositioning as a tech employer as well as fostering our engineering culture by working on our event sponsorship strategy, organizing meetups and hackathons

I worked as a Tibco Dev Engineer and rotating scrum master in DevOps team Cards Issuing 2/Lama's within the Payments domain. The focus of this team was to develop and maintain Tibco services to be used by channels such as MING and Mobile. My tasks included analysis, development, unit testing, functional testing, performance testing, deployment, configuration management and change management.

I worked as a Tibco developer and rotating scrum master in DevOps team Cards Issuing 4/JEDI within the Payments domain. My tasks included analysis, development, unit testing, functional testing, performance testing, deployment, configuration management, service level management and change management. July 2014, the scope of this team shifted to becoming a technical support team for the other Cards Issuing teams. As such, team focus shifted to working on automation, continuous delivery and monitoring.

I worked as a Tibco developer in the Creditcards DevOps team within the CD&AM domain. Releases I have worked on include the inclusion of creditcard data in the ING mobile app, activation of creditcards and the new display of creditcard information on MING. Tasks within the team included analysis, development, unit testing, deployment and improving continuous delivery.

Within the Ordina Top Talent program, I was trained to work as a Tibco consultant in an Agile/Scrum environment. During a two-year traineeship I worked at ING as a Tibco developer and followed courses at Ordina after which I were to become an internal employee at ING.

Ordina employs approximately 750 young employees (up to the age of 36). Most of Ordina’s young professionals are located at different client offices and therefore vulnerable for losing the corporate business values. JongOrdina aims to connect these young professionals by organizing sports activities, knowledge sessions and networking events. Additionally, JongOrdina serves as a recommendation group for the Executive Board. Within JongOrdina I was responsible for Finance. Tasks included financial administration, creating a budget proposal and contact with suppliers. I was also in the lead for organizing a bootcamp session for 40 employees.

During my MA I worked as a research assistant at the NWO VENI research project Crossing Communication Borders: First Language Reversion in Healthy, Ageing Dutch Migrants in Australia by dr. M.C.J. Keijzer. For this project I assisted in the development of cognitive and linguistic tasks in the test battery, I collected data at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, for a period of two months and I co-presented at the International Symposium on Bilingualism 8 in Oslo, Norway.
