I'm an award-winning journalist and editor based in Helsinki. My main focus is in giving a human voice to complex contemporary topics ranging from poverty to multiculturalism, climate change, development policy and human rights in Finland and elsewhere.As a freelancer and the director of a media production house, I've been commissioned to plan and execute work for clients such as the national broadcasting company Yle, the Finnish foreign ministry, Save the Children, the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission and the Finnish Social Forum. I have a proven track record of increasing audience engagement both in print and online media.I'm also the founder of Iso Numero, Finland's first street paper sold by low-income and homeless vendors. Launched in 2011 as an one-off publication against proposals to introduce national legislation against East European migrants, Iso Numero has since grown into a well-known media brand that has earned recognition from the Finnish government, local social welfare organizations as well as the law enforcement agencies in Helsinki. Annually we generate approximately 100 000 euros of income to our vendors who represent a wide cross-section of European migrating minorities and Finnish vulnerable communities.
