Dispute ResolutionAs the Junior Partner of the firm, I handle the majority of the firm’s civil litigation cases. I have acted for clients as both solicitor and counsel at all levels of the Malaysian Court system. For each file under my care, I deal directly with clients providing them with pre-litigation advice, collating documents, carrying out due diligence and if required, initiating and running a legal suit. I am solely responsible of managing a client’s expectation from the outset.I draft all legal documents such as pleadings, witness statements, affidavits and other cause papers required for a case. In relation to legal research, I either work individually or oversee the team’s research process.In the lower courts, I run cases independently on my own and I am also fully in charge of the direction and strategy of each case. I have experience in representing clients in interlocutory applications, trials and hearings.In more complex cases, I act as solicitor and I am the first point of contact for clients, opposing parties and the Courts. I take an active role in drafting legal documents, carrying out legal research and providing my input on the strategy of the case. I deal primarily in disputes involving contractual issues, debt recovery, construction and company matters. Corporate AdvisoryI have assisted in preparing Joint Venture Agreements and Settlement Agreements in construction matters. Administrative RoleI am in charge of the human resources department in the firm and conduct interviews for potential employees of the firm.

Dispute ResolutionI specialise in civil litigation. I assist a senior counsel primarily on High Court and Appellate matters. Typically for each file I work on, I am heavily involved in pre-trial preparations. I am usually tasked with the responsibility to carry out research on complex legal issues either individually or to lead a team to do so. I also draft all types of cause papers required and attend pre-trial case managements in Court.At Court, I assist counsel in conducting hearings and trials. I am required to have a detailed grasp of court documents and a clear understanding of the legal material. I am also the first point of contact for clients, instructing solicitors and the Courts. I attend meetings with clients and instructing solicitors with the aim of collating documents and evidence, carrying out due diligence and resolving general queries.I have experience in dealing with disputes involving contractual, construction, company, trust and tax matters. Corporate AdviceI have assisted counsel in reviewing contracts for clients and providing legal advice with a view to settlement or to minimise the impact of an impending legal suit. Administrative RoleMy role also requires me to be in charge of the firm’s library and website. Therefore, I work with an external librarian to maintain and update the library as well as manage the firm’s website.

Dispute ResolutionAs a pupil, I am exposed to different areas of civil litigation. I mainly work within a team of lawyers, assisting the lawyer in charge in terms of legal research and drafting.I also handle my own files, primarily that in the lower courts. For these cases, I conduct client meetings, draft legal documents, attend to case managements, and conduct interlocutory hearings. For more complex matters, I work under the supervision of a senior lawyer. I have experience in assisting a high value arbitration claim involving land reclamation. My role is to carry out research and to review documents for trial. As part of my pupillage, I also partake in dock briefs in which I mitigate or plead bail for accused suspects in criminal cases.

I manage my own caseload of personal injury claims arising from road traffic accidents via the MOJ portal. I am required to communicate with clients and manage their expectations, collate evidence for their claims and to negotiate the best possible settlement with insurers.I have experience in working with a case management system effectively, achieving KPI targets and managing files and maintaining client confidentiality.
