Service Learning Coordinator for a pilot program I designed after- school Service Learning Program for at-risk youth at Talley Middle School. Students were selected by teachers due to low academic performance, high absentee rate, behavior problems, and/or referred by school counselor or psychologists. I development monthly themed social problems. Students researched the problems, came up with some resolutions, and then chose a location for a service project. At the end of the month there was reflection, and celebration. I wrote a grant at the beginning of the school and was award for the students to obtain supplies needed to participate in the service projects. With the left over money I chaperoned a group of middle school students to a weekend retreat in Washington D.C. During the summer I created Summer of Service S.O.S., a 6 week extensive service learning program that focused on topics of environmental, homeless and hunger, and literacy.

Boise, Idaho

Newark, Delaware

Recruited 800 mentor advocates throughout the state of Delaware. Arranged monthly meetings with community and business leaders throughout the state to discuss the importance of mentoring. Designed and disseminated quarterly Delaware Mentoring Council E-newsletters. Attended trainings for sustainability and professional development.

Matched at-risks students that were recruited from teachers and counselors to be matched with an in-school mentor. I recruited mentor volunteers from the neighboring community, businesses, University of Delaware Honor Roll Students and the Men's basketball team to mentor students once a week, for one hour, throughout the school year. Once I recruited mentor volunteers I submitted background checks, called references, provided orientation and training, and matched them with a student mentee. I maintained attendance, record keeping of mentors and students, collected students academic progress, updated records, conducted student, parent, mentor, and teacher evaluations and mentoring progress. Wrote grants for program supplies, activities, and recognition events. Planned celebration events for end of the year program participates. Monitored hourly participation and record data for Delaware Department of Education grant.
