Service Learning Coordinator for a pilot program I designed after- school Service Learning Program for at-risk youth at Talley Middle School. Students were selected by teachers due to low academic performance, high absentee rate, behavior problems, and/or referred by school counselor or psychologists. I development monthly themed social problems. Students researched the problems, came up with some resolutions, and then chose a location for a service project. At the end of the month there was reflection, and celebration. I wrote a grant at the beginning of the school and was award for the students to obtain supplies needed to participate in the service projects. With the left over money I chaperoned a group of middle school students to a weekend retreat in Washington D.C. During the summer I created Summer of Service S.O.S., a 6 week extensive service learning program that focused on topics of environmental, homeless and hunger, and literacy.
