Simmons worked in the Outreach, College of Continuing Education at the University of Oklahoma from 1981 to 2010. While at the University, Simmons assisted with the establishment of the Infopoverty Institute (2002). She co-founded and directed the National Conference Logistics Center (1996), now known as ConferencePros. NCLC programs and staff have won various awards for innovation and performance. She is co-founder and director of the Center for the Study of Small/Rural Schools (1991) where she directed the award-winning annual conferences on Creating the Quality School and many other conferences across the nation in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Education, USAID, state agencies, and others. CSSRS conducted training for international rural educators, and Simmons has participated in and/or sponsored programs in Austria, the United Kingdom, Canada, Honduras, Bolivia, Mexico, Tunisia, Rwanda, Italy, Switzerland, Ethiopia, and the Dominican RepublicSimmons holds a bachelor of science degree in secondary math education; a master of education degree in adult and higher education administration with an emphasis in training and development; and a Ph.D. in adult and higher education administration with emphases in leadership, continuing education, and international issues.Specialties: lifelong learning, international sustainable development, international meeting planning and conference coordination, cross-cultural leadership development, rural education
