This fund - of €20 billion public investments - aims to strengthen the Netherlands' long-term economic growth. The two investment areas are 1) knowledge development and 2) R&D and innovation. My responsibilities lie on coordinating the process of developing (by public-private cooperation) and selecting the proposals to submit to the fund. These proposals focus on strengthening new and excising R&I-ecosystems with topics such as quantum technology, artificial intelligence and sustainable materials. Moreover, together with other experts, I'm responsible for shaping the structural form of the fund (by law), governance and implementation. Currently, an important task is exploring how the fund can be more instrumental for transformative (mission driven) R&I policies. Furthermore, I was part of the Dutch coordination team for Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. In this role, I was responsible for several instruments, strategy development, and the Dutch delegate for European working groups, such as the Shadow Programme Committee of the European Innovation Council (EIC) and EU Innovative Ecosystems (EIE), Ad-hoc working group about the ‘future of the European Research Area’ (ERA), Strategic Forum for International S&T Cooperation (SFIC), and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Tasks include advising and guiding the minister in Brussels during Council meetings, stakeholder consultations, writing and coordinating the Dutch vision on new regulations, such as for the EIT, MFF and Brexit.
