Core Group And Task D LeaderProsafe Projects Emars I & Ii Nov 2008 - Dec 2011Brussels Area, BelgiumEMARS I is the first major EU-funded project that PROSAFE has undertaken. It is a three year project which started approximately at the beginning of 2006. EMARS I aimed to achieve a basic level of expertise and practical experience throughout most of the market surveillance organisations within Member States of the EEA (European Economic Area). The overall objective of the EMARS II project is to further enhance the market surveillance of non-food consumer products in Europe. This is to be achieved through the practical application and further fine-tuning of the best practice developed, originally, by the EMARS I project. The project also sought to further capitalise on the improved climate for collaboration amongst national market surveillance authorities, built up by EMARS I project. EMARS II has provided a framework for closer collaboration, within which future Joint Actions and coordinated activities on specific products and other market surveillance related issues were identified. The main objectives of EMARS II Task D were the revision of the current Corrective Action Guide and the PROSAFE activities in the framework of ICPSC, ICPHSO and the OECD working party on market surveillance.

Project Leader Joint Market Surveillance Action On ToysProsafe Sep 2008 - Oct 2011Brussels Area, BelgiumThe Joint Market Surveillance Action on Toys had aimed to ensure that toys - placed on the European Market for children under 3 years old - are safe with respect to two investigated aspects: small parts in toys (module I) and migration of heavy metals in toys (module II). In order to achieve a higher level of conformity / safety of these toys and in order to mutually learn from best practice experience in this area, representatives from 15 market surveillance authorities of 13 European countries had regularly meetings and taking action under the co-ordination of PROSAFE.The market surveillance activities related to this joint action were performed during 2009. Over 14,000 toys had been screened and investigated by inspectors from the participating organisations. The data and information extracted from these surveillance exercises had been compiled and analysed. More information can be found by looking at the Press Release on the website of the European Commission issued on the 15th April 2010.
