After my degree at Egon Hogeschool, I became a dental technician and started to work at our family business, together with my father and sister.Soon my interest went to the digital future of our profession.We started with the first Nobel Biocare scanner, which enabled us to make single unit Zirconia copings.Soon we bought the Dentsply Cercon milling unit. Here we could scan our wax construction and reproduce this in Zirconia. And mill and sinter in house !!!Soon followed the Nobel Forte Scanner and the seperate Cercon scanner.Starting to get tired of closed systems, we bought the Cynovad Open STL Scanner and software. A true revolution in these days.The Cynovad system made us jump on the 3D printing (rapid prototyping printing) train. This was in the year 2004, when nobody talked about this incredible way of producing.In between we tested the Sirona scanner/software and Bego system of sintering gold copings, without any success.Later we bought the SensAble design station with haptic arm which enabled us to design, as one of the first, digital partials.For C&B we opted for the Exocad design software and the Imetric scanner.In 2010 we started working with an industrial 5-axis ultrasonic milling unit from DMG.Today we have 2 of them.As progress is being made in the industry, we try to keep ahead for serving our professional customers at its best.Digital intra-oral impressions are the next step. In Belgium, only a limited number of dentists uses these scanners, but as quality improves, we are sure this will make it's way in our daily business.
