I am active in advisory work for small and large organisations in management and energy transition. I have over 35 years experience in the world of international business, finance and management. It all started in tax and has developed into a broad range of activities and clients. Amongst many experiences that I have gained, I have found two things most captivating. First is the importance of taking action after a good analysis. Analysis without action, in most cases, means nothing. Second is the importance of knowing with whom you take that action. No matter how strong the strategy is, it all falls apart without a good team. For 29 years, I have led teams, handled projects and served in the boardrooms of Andersen and Deloitte. In June 2018, I decided to step down from my position as senior partner in the firm. This personal decision is based on my curiosity and eagerness to pursue change and would love to work for another decade. I am a doer (but a bad golfer) and love working with people, both in business and society. Hence, Libero Professionista in my headline, although the agenda is fully loaded.I believe in stewardship. In taking care of each other on a small as well as on a global scale. As Treasurer and Executive Board Member in Capabuild, I team up with many great others to develop unique tax training programs for the countries in the global south. There is no human rights without a good execution of a tax system designed by the countries themselves.I also aim to use my talent and past experiences towards the Christian Democratic Appel (CDA) Leiderdorp, Stichting Team nxt Rotterdam, Circle of Friends of the Orchestra of the 18th Century and recently, Rosa Manus, a women's shelter organisation.When I am not working, you can find me engrossed in a book, mostly about the 19th century, and enjoying the outdoors. For instance: camping with my wife in our tiny RV, cruising local waters in our launch boat (“sloep”), or skiing in the Dolomites, Italy.Life has been good to me.
