Jan advised them on doing business in Silicon Valley, creating customer and ecosystem advocacy, and introducing them to customers and partners in the semiconductor industry.

OpenRemote is open source middleware for IoT, started back in 2009, with the ambition to overcome the challenges of integration between many different protocols and solutions available for IoT, and offer visualization tools. OpenRemote Inc. was created, to enable the sponsorship of the OpenRemote open source project – in the vein of JBoss. Jan was an advisor on doing business in Silicon Valley and partnerships.

Defined strategy and led team of people to deliver operational excellence with influential third party alliances ranging from other EDA companies to IP, ASIC, Foundry suppliers and industry associations and standards. Managed the corporate marketing team to deliver a new brand position for the company and a new public relations strategy.

While at Cadence, Jan served 5 years on the Board of Si2, an industry organization for collaboration and fostering standards. During her tenure, the business model was redefined, enabling Si2 to continue on improved financial footing.

At Simplex, Jan created the first industry Foundry Program to facilitate accurate extraction and analysis for timing closure of ASIC and System-on-chip designs. She co-founded and managed the X Initiative, a supply-chain consortium of more than 40 companies, aimed at accelerating the adoption of a breakthrough design technology called the X Architecture. She led the company's successful strategy and negotiation to partner through an OEM relationship with Cadence Design Systems, who later acquired Simplex.

Jan managed 10+ strategic partnerships with ASIC and FPGA companies worldwide, where she expanded partner support and endorsement for the company's flagship synthesis product, Design Compiler, as well as follow-on products. She was promoted to manage the team within a year in addition to creating/leading an internal cross functional initiative to achieve simulator sign-off qualification. Working with the executive team, Jan led the creation and execution of a 10 year alliance with the leading ASIC company, LSI Logic, and a similar alliance with the leading FPGA company, Xilinx. She was part of the cross company leadership team to build a joint development program with IBM ASIC. In 1996, Jan transferred to product marketing with responsibility for the Design Compiler family where she led the team to re-structure the product line and introduce a new product, Power Compiler.

In Jan's first 2.5 years at HP, she went from an entry position in board test manufacturing engineering to an applications support engineer working on CAD software in Fort Collins, Colorado. In 1987, Jan transferred to Silicon Valley with HP and developed technical education programs for the CAD applications. She was later promoted to manage a small team to develop the worldwide customer education curriculum across all HP products. In this job, Jan developed an expertise for relationship management working with more than 20 divisions of HP. In late 1989, Jan left HP to pursue her dream of studying for an MBA at Stanford.
