I grew up in the naughty north, setting my roots in Whangarei. I moved down to Hamilton in 2021 with aspirations to complete a BSc (Tech) majoring in Ecology and Biodiversity and Earth Sciences. At the end of my second year of study I obtained an internship at Northland Regional Council, working in Coastal and contaminated land. My role at NRC centered around marina consent monitoring, taking samples all over the region to monitor compliance. Towards the end of my study, I gained another opportunity to work as an intern at Waikato Regional Council in the Rural Compliance Team. Here I mostly monitored farm water consents, liaising with farm owners, interpreting data and assessing compliance. This internship carried through into a full time role as a Rural Compliance Officer, where I continue to expand my knowledge in the compliance sector.
