I'm dedicated to creating a world in which all governments have acted decisively to reduce and, where possible, eliminate global catastrophic risk. My mission, and that of Global Shield, is to ensure countries around the world enact and effectively implement policies that reduce global catastrophic risk. This work continues a lifelong interest in the threat of disasters. I grew up in Southern California in the 1980s and 90s surrounded by disasters of all types, so I naturally developed an appreciation for the importance of emergency management, risk management, and public policy. Prior to my work advocating for better policies to be adopted by governments to reduce these risks, I worked extensively in the field of traditional homeland security and emergency management policy with the U.S. federal government and the U.S. Congress.
