I began working night shift in the awning assembly department where we would build awnings for McDonalds. After a brief time, I moved to the day shift in the custom construction department where I began welding and producing highly custom awnings and building enhancements with a small specialized crew. A year later, I moved into the Engineering department where I began using CAD to help draw and compile shop blueprints that were interpreted from architectural blue prints. I worked directly under a civil engineer until my departure in July 2015.

Began my career in construction at 16 working for my father's cabinet shop. We did everything from renovations, demos, remodels, and home editions. This is where I learned both sides of the mill work industry from the ground up. I started sweeping floors and progressed to learning the many facets of a carpenters skill sets. I learned how to handle the various tools of the trade, assemble and finish the cabinetry, field measure a job, hand draw blueprints, and ultimately work with clients. I did this line of work until 2011 where I took a hiatus from working and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.
