I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1994 with a Bachelors degree in Marine Science (emphasis in Coastal Management). My first job was an internship with South Carolina Coastal Council (now S.C. DHEC - OCRM) where I focused on building their G.I.S. system. After my internship I was employed with Atlantic Littleneck Clam Farms in Charleston, SC from 1995-1997 where I was a Crew Captain. After some traveling, I worked with Southeastern Environmental, Inc. in Conway, SC from 1998 - 2006. For two years I opened my own environmental consulting company (Hendrix Consulting) from 2006-2008. I briefly worked with the Earthworks group (2008-2009) before I decided to go back to school to earn my M.A.T. degree at Coastal Carolina University. After graduation, I was immediately employed at Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, SC where I have been employed for the last 11 years. I have primarily taught Marine Science as well as coaching boys basketball and sponsoring the school's environmental club. I have also dedicated much of my time with a non-profit environmental organization. In 1997, I founded the Grand Strand Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a grass-roots environmental organization dedicated to conservation, activism, research and education of the world's oceans, coasts and beaches. I have served as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Treasurer. During my free time, I enjoy surfing, teaching surfing and basketball, boating, and traveling with my wife of 11 years.
