Senior Software Engineer
Current- Solely responsible for maintaining and improving the business critical telecom services.- Subject Matter Expert for the core product and industry. The go-to problem solver and escalation point for technical issues. Leveraged industry knowledge to fix non-engineering issues for the sales, account management, tech support, and internal finance departments.- Identified and quantified revenue risks, impact, and recurring patterns of issues and inefficiencies by seeking out and collecting data from coworkers in other departments.- Negotiated the prioritization of work, requirements, and scope with product management.- Resolved several dozen ancient bugs in the backlog that were previously deemed too risky or difficult. Maintained the monolithic legacy code and portals that were central to the product and internal business operations for accounting, billing, and the sales pipeline.- Implemented architecture and platform improvements that hardened the system against downtime and cascading failures. Optimized event processing microservices to scale. Modernized legacy services with functional programming concepts.- Coordinated and spearheaded disaster recovery efforts during unplanned service outages.- Stood in as a Sales Engineer on calls with customers and partners to help translate needs and niche use cases into workable solutions, securing deals for strategic partners.- Thoroughly tested and peer reviewed code to enforce the completeness of initial efforts, reduce test failures and rework, and guarantee the quality of the user experience.I again held (first volunteered for) a broader range of responsibilities than were expected of me, both within Engineering and along side key players in organization. Worked with managers as we transitioned the post-startup company into more mature management and engineering processes. Pushed for test automation, data driven prioritization of work, etc.
