Managed the IT department at Power City Electric. I had one employee that I supervised as well as all things dealing with IT. Managed devices for over 150 employees, most in the field, that included laptops, smart devices, printers, and the network. Lead project manager on the IT section of moving one of our large branch offices to another building. Informed end-users on capabilities and limitations for available hardware/software. Worked with vendors to resolve problems, analyze and correct system malfunctions, instruct users, and consult with higher-level staff and/or vendors to resolve complex problems. Created and maintained project/server documentation for application support, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

Worked on designing and building the rendering engine for an adaptive learning game. Started out helping research technologies for the rendering engine. Created the basic functionality for the rendering engine using GTK and Cairo in C++. Helped on other minor projects using C++.

Provided day to day administration, network design, implementation and various other IT related duties such as conducting research and evaluation of trends and new technologies in information technology to determine applicability to the City’s systems or services. Lone IT worker dealing with over 150 users, planned and coordinated IT activities to achieve goals associated with applications and/or systems, and managed several projects. Was on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency situations. Planned, scheduled and coordinated projects and tasks concurrently with supervisor. Lead project manager and performed analysis leading to application/system recoverability, optimization, and scalability in our conversion from conventional servers to a virtual VMWare environment. Lead project manager in designing and implementing an overhaul of our network backbone and the simultaneous implementation of a new VOIP phone system. Maintained the web application server environments to host enterprise applications/systems and implemented and documented the online payment system. Ensured data integrity was maintained in the production environment through system optimization, tuning, and high-availability configuration and administration. Supported the rapid deployment of new applications, such as the Police Department MDB server, operating systems, and patches/hot fixes.

Worked Trouble Tickets that included problems such as connectivity issues, installations of LAN jacks, installation of switches, etc. Configured, installed, and troubleshot Cisco and Catalyst switches on an Ethernet backbone. Became proficient on multilayer switching, VLANs, and ATM networks. Learned how to troubleshoot, install and configure Network Encryption Systems. Helped design, procure, and implement for the move from an ATM backbone to a Gigabit Ethernet backbone. Helped in the implementation of separating the secure backbone from the non-secure backbone. Was sent to Kabul, Afghanistan to work with the Afghan military on advising and implementing their network that had previously been non-existent. Was the only person deployed to configure and install two routers, a server, a firewall, two switches, and dozens of computers behind a microwave T1 shot to a local service provider. The product was the first Afghan military network ever in existence. Designed and procured $6 million worth of equipment for a country wide network. Went to Airman Leadership School. Managed the training of 150-200. Planned, set up and helped run training classes. Held a management position for 2 years overseeing the training of 150-200 people. Managed 5-8 Airmen in a trouble ticket and project environment.
