Jared Lee is a Project Scientist II at the Research Applications Lab at the U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR/RAL) in Boulder, Colorado. He earned a a B.A. in Physics from Gustavus Adolphus College (2005), followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Meteorology from Penn State University (2007, 2012). After earning his doctorate, Jared held postdoctoral appointments at the Naval Postgraduate School and NSF NCAR, and has been a Project Scientist at NSF NCAR/RAL since 2014. Jared's research interests include wind/solar energy forecasting, wind/solar energy resource assessment, air quality forecasting, and several other applications requiring numerical weather prediction modeling.Jared has been married to his wife Karen since 2013, and they have two children.Jared currently serves as the Co-Chair of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Energy Committee, in addition to several other volunteer roles on boards, committees, and task forces within NSF NCAR, AMS, the Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG), and the World Energy Meteorology Council (WEMC).
