Since 1998 – Rainbow Families provides education, resources, and support services for LGBTQ+ parents, families, and parents-to-be. Our first meetings as Rainbow Families DC began in 1988; we formalized our status as a 501(c)3 non profit organization in 2008, and serve an ever-growing and diverse community of LGBTQ+ families, not only in the DC region but nationally. We connect with over 10,000 each month through our membership, communications channels, and our signature social and educational programs.In 2019 Rainbow Families was named “One of the Best” nonprofit organizations by the Catalogue for Philanthropy. That honor has been repeated in 2020, 2021 and 2022.Rainbow Families is a small, community based organization, led by an engaged volunteer Board of Directors, small staff, and numerous volunteers & interns for which we are especially grateful.

Formulate, design, develop and administer a variety of qualitative and quantitative studies concerned with legislation, regulations, policies and procedures related to commercial space transportation issues and activities.Advise management on potential public reaction to proposed policies and prepare analyses of major impacts upon the commercial space transportation industry. Provide analytical support to AST Management Staff on congressional and legislative initiatives, strategy, congressional hearings and Member-level briefings. Work with the Office of Communication to fulfill communications requirements including the planning and implementation phases of communications efforts. Monitor the conduct of economic impact analyses of proposed rules for space operations and the space transportation industry and identify policies and programs with adverse impact. Represent the organization in the development of policies affecting commercial space transportation. Prepare documentation, reports, and/or presents briefings in these various areas.

Drafted significant portions of the NASA Authorization Act of 2014, the NASA Authorization Act of 2015, NASA Authorization act of 2016 & 2017, and the U.S. Commercial Space Launch Competitiveness Act of 2015 (P.L 114-119). Developed policy positions for the Space Subcommittee of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee regarding various aspects of human spaceflight. Managed oversight portfolio for the Human Exploration and Operations and Space Technology Mission Directorates at NASA. Developed analysis and oversight initiatives for various NASA programs and policy decisions. Liaised with industry representatives regarding various concerns in the space and aerospace sectors. Managed hearings which included drafting opening statements and hearing charters, and editing content of press advisories and releases.
