FM Global Worldwide Earthquake MapI worked as the GIS Developer on the Global Worldwide Earthquake Map. I increased productivity by creating workflows, tools, and scripts. Through workflow automation jobs that took weeks to model upon first arrival were cut to a few hours using a combination of both GDAL and ArcPY libraries. I managed the conglomeration of soil data and implemented novel ways of storing data that guaranteed a standardized grid, ranked preference, and one value per pixel across the world for the global soil dataset which became “The Global Soil Map.” FM Global Worldwide Flood MapI worked as the head vertical correction and datum expert on the flood team. I used the GDAL library within python to vertically correct the entire world to the same datum. I statistically compared various datasets: MERIT, SRTM, and ALOS, to see which had the lowest error rate when compared to a ground truth DEM. I created an eDSM or estimated digital surface model by creating a program that corrected for tree height and building height for SRTM similar to the methodology used by the MERIT dataset creators. I created a script for correcting channels when they are of an erroneously high elevation due to a low resolution DTM.Fire WorkI recently created a Python based program that calculated the fire frequency, burn area, and a calculation of the two.
