Who is Jared Pillay. I am a Application Development Manager with 15 years plus experience.Experience in the Financial Sector, Software Development House’s, Government, Data Centre space as well as SME’s. Over these 15 years, I have gained experience in various components within the Software Development Lifecycle, which allows me to do end to end development and management.What does this mean – the standard SDLC has 5 phases. As a consultant, you perform every role below. 1.     Planning – Gathering Clients requirements and drafting concise Business Requirement Documents. This is probably the most important of all stages as this will define the scope of the Project. This requires a need to have great communication skills and knowledge to let the client know of better ways to accomplish the organisations goals. 2.     Design – From developing Wireframes and design prototypes then drafting Technical and Functional Requirement Documents. 3.     Development – I am a full stack developer. What does this mean: I do both Back-end and Front-end Development. Back end being a .Net developer using C# and Front-end using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. My CV will show the many other languages and Technologies used. This development always done with best practice in mind. 4.     Testing – Testing is a must to mitigate risk for any company. I draft Test Plans and Test Cases as well as full reporting. One of the most important steps is to make sure testing be done between the different staging environments. Security Testing and load testing also will be done. 5.     Deployment – Go live with the final deploy. All done so that the project goes company wide. Additionally, I have substantial Architectural background. This will allow me to analyse the current systems in place and process engineer a better solution if need be. Also, to mitigate all risks for a company, it is important that servers and environments have a proper Disaster Recovery plan as well as an exact Back-up Schedule. In the past, I have taken up multiple senior roles including management such as Application Development Manager at the largest data centres in Africa and Dev Ops Manager with around 20 employees reporting to me. Responsibilities included HR for those employees, managing leave, KPI’s, PDP's, everything except payroll which was handled by Finance. Team/Technical Lead and Senior Consultant is the role that I have been performing for the past 6 years. All in all, I am a firm believer in working smart. Work hard. Work for something.
