As Advisor for Pollution Incident Management I led the North East Areas preparation, response and recovery from pollution incidents. I owned and managed internal and external risk registers and the plans put in place to mitigate impacts. I led training and exercising engagement with the three Local Resilience Forums building strong multi-agency networks. I trained and exercised our duty officers preparing them for real incident response. I supported response with technical knowledge and the networks I had built with partners. I ran hot and cold debriefs, actioning recommendations and embedding lessons.

I developed North Easts plans and procedures for responding to flooding. Training and exercising local duty officers so they were prepared and confident to undertake their role. I managed a c100k annual budget to develop our river and rain gauge telemetry network to improve our ability to warn and inform communities during flooding. I worked with consultants to categorise flood risk areas, improving our warning accuracy. I promoted flood warning sign up with community engagement and the establishment of flood warden groups.
