At UO one of the topics I became especially interested in was the conservation of natural landscapes, which led me to fulfill my senior internship at Nearby Nature, a preschool and environmental learning charter school for kids in 7th-12th grade. In my position as a Land Steward Intern, I worked on organic gardening and ecological restoration in Nearby Nature’s educational learnscape. The second part of my internship was working on public park stewardship, as they were also the designated park hosts of Alton Baker Park in Eugene, which their site is located in the middle of. In this area of the internship, I worked with other interns to remove trash, invasive species, graffiti, and implement deterrents to the continuation of some of these actions, such as murals along the Autzen Canal Bridge.
